Wales on the Web is a bilingual subject gateway
to validated websites offering dependable information relating to Wales and all aspects of Welsh life, it is
maintained by The National Library of Wales.
The Kenfig.org website project aims to encourage the learning of local history by one an all,
especially the younger generations who have to learn aspects of history, ICT and Internet skills that form a
part of the National Curriculum. The website is constantly visited by local schools, colleges and Universities
across Wales along with other academic establishments and government departments worldwide, together
with that of the computer giants Microsoft and IBM.
Website ImpactThe online website project has had an unprecedented impact not only on the immediate local
communities but also on a global scale with emigrates and expatriates and even serving as an inspiration to
the morale of British forces serving overseas especially with the present military conflict and peacekeeping
missions in Iraq and Afghanistan from the coverage of a charity event known as The Gambo Race
where coverage is exclusive to the Kenfig.org website. Documenting the Annual Gambo Race has provided the
main marketing strategy to the website project as a whole.
